Renault 5 Turbo 3E – Exterior
The Renault 5 Turbo 3E was first presented as a study at the 2022 Paris Motor Show with a massive rear wing, which it has lost in the production model now shown, but the design is still more than just sporty with a wide front that is still close to the ground.
The futuristic lights and the massive air intakes in the rear show how much Renault has concentrated on the design of their new sports car in order to score with a retro-futuristic, yet emphatically sporty exterior.
The dimensions of the Renault 5 Turbo 3E are close to the "normal" Renault 5 E-Tech, despite slight changes, or in Renault's words, the Renault 5 Turbo 3E is "as long as a city car and as wide as a supercar". The dimensions of 4.08 m long, 2.03 m wide and 1.38 m high are at home both on the race track and in the city centre.
In addition to the compact dimensions, Renault has also worked on the aerodynamics of the Renault 5 Turbo 3E, with a splinter on the front bumpers and the barrel on the bonnet providing better downforce and good airflow.
Renault 5 Turbo 3E – Engine and drive
The new electric super sports car gets 2 wheel hub motors on the rear axle, which together deliver 540 hp and 4,800 Nm of torque. Despite the focus on speed, the French company has also installed a 70 kWh battery, which should give the vehicle a range of more than 400 km according to WLTP. Despite the battery, the Renault 5 Turbo 3E remains very light with a weight of just under 1.4 tons and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in under 3.5 seconds. The top speed on the race track is an impressive 270 km/h.
Thanks to the 800 volt base, however, the Renault 5 Turbo 3E can also be quickly recharged after peak performance. Up to 350 kW charging power ensures charging from 15 to 80% battery level within 15 minutes.
Renault 5 Turbo 3E – Interior
Sportiness was also in the foreground in the design of the interior. Bucket seats, six-point belts and carbon parts provide the dynamic flair, and a vertical handbrake even brings a rally feeling to the cockpit.
Digital driving instruments and infotainment are displayed on two almost 10-inch displays and thus also offer the usual functions of a modern electric car despite the sports focus. Navigation with charging stops and an extensive multimedia offer are also on board.
Renault 5 Turbo 3E – Sales launch and price
The Renault 5 Turbo 3E can be reserved now for a fee of €50,000. Series production of the Renault 5 Turbo 3E will be strictly limited to 1,980 units, a nod to the year of release of the first Renault 5 Turbo. Deliveries are scheduled for 2027.
In total, the mini supercar costs €155,000, making it expensive fun. The Renault 5 Turbo 3E is to be shown to the public again at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July 2025.
